For over a year now we have been researching the scene in Singapore and refining our selection criteria to reflect the level of excellence this renowned city state is capable of delivering.

We started our 2017 review rounds at Intercontinental Singapore where the hotel is being considered for multiple awards including Best Club Lounges, Top Suites and Fine Dining Chinese Restaurants. A score of celebrities and prominent society figures have been invited to be our guest reviewers and we were joined by one of Singapore's most consummate society hostess Ms Nana Au Chua at the review sitting of Man Fu Yuan. As the COO of Million Lighting, one of the region's most established distributor of high quality lamps and light fixtures, Ms Au Chua entertains extensively all around the world in both her work and private capacity. "My first visit to Man Fu Yuan at the Intercontinental after its renovation was a very pleasant experience full of laughter and fabulous food. I've heard many good reviews of the Chinese food here but somehow never found the time to visit till now. We were hosted in a lovely private room that is well sized and classically furnished. I immediately felt a connection here as the chandeliers in this restaurant were supplied by Milliion Lighting! Our lunch comprised of a 4 course menu that started with a trio of dim sums which were scrumptious as the ingredients were fresh and succulent. The next course, a thick lobster soup served in steamed Japanese pumpkin was amazing both in taste and presentation. The seasoning was balanced and since pumpkin is a decided favourite of mine, the soup naturally was my favourite course at lunch. The soup was followed by a paired course of seemingly simple crab meat fried rice and braised tofu with seafood which really is a great test and testament to a Chinese chef's skills and they were delicious. Finally we were treated to a luxurious dessert - a fabulous double boiled bird's nest served in fresh coconut paired with deep fried purple sweet potato custard ball and this novel pairing was simply sensational. All in all, the good company and lovely cuisine at a beautifully decorated top restaurant made for an afternoon to cherish and remember." - Nana Au Chua
