Parkroyal on Pickering is an architectural marvel that mirrors the biblical hanging garden in the urban heart of Singapore. A veritable breathing and living building, the hotel was raised along environmentally friendly principles as well as a dedication to gourmet enjoyment through its only restaurant Lime. We invited the ever effervescent Diane Barrans, society fixture and equestrian enthusiast, and her husband Julian to lunch with us at the zesty space.
"The most striking aspect of the restaurant for me is its light-bathed interiors infused with a vibrant and modern vibe, not at all what I expect from a hotel restaurant inhabited by the usual business tribes from this locale. Primarily a buffet joint, there is also a good selection from its a la carte lunch menu comprising east and west favourites. I opted for an opulent Australian wagyu sirloin, a steal at $58 ++ while my husband went for the Alaskan black cod with seaweed ash. Anticipating with a glass of Chablis, this is the very sort of restaurant one can sit and chat comfortably without feeling stifled by space or decorum. When our lunch arrived, the wait was indeed worth it. The wagyu sirloin was grilled to perfection and well accompanied by the elevated truffled Mac and Cheese. Julian also enjoyed his fish exceedingly, remarking on the cod's freshness and pronounced flavour heightened by a medley of prosciutto, vegetables and a pernod and yuzu butter." Diane Barrans
